Upcoming Season
Dear Palmerton Swim Team Members and Parents,
We are writing to share an important update regarding the Palmerton Swim Team and to be transparent about what is needed to ensure the team can continue this upcoming summer season.
First, we want to let you know that our current Board President has had to resign from her position due to increasing commitments and responsibilities with her job. We are extremely grateful for the time, dedication, and leadership she has provided to the team. In addition, because she also served as the League Vice President, she has had to step down from that role as well.
Our Vice President has expressed a willingness to continue helping and supporting the board; however, her availability will be limited. With her child involved in other activities, she is only able to attend some practices and swim meets, which makes it difficult for her to take on expanded leadership responsibilities
We also want to share that our current Secretary has other evening coaching commitments that limit her availability, and our Treasurer is also limited in her ability to help on a regular basis due to her children’s sports schedules.
In addition to rebuilding our team board, we are also required to provide the league with a Vice President representative. This role must be filled since our former Board President is no longer able to serve in that capacity at the league level. Our current team Vice President is willing to do this if someone fills her role as the Vice President of the swim team board.
At present, all board members are feeling the strain of managing a small team with limited resources and a shortage of volunteers. While everyone remains committed to the swimmers and the success of the program, the current structure is not sustainable without additional help. Multiple board positions will need to be filled. Ideally, we would like to see several new faces on the board to not only make this swim season possible, but also successful.
We truly want to see the Palmerton Swim Team continue this summer. However, in order for that to happen, we will need several new parents to step into leadership roles, including one parent willing to serve as Board President.
We kindly ask that interested families reach out as soon as possible. Our goal is to have a clear plan in place and to inform the league board of our decision by February 5th.
This team has always relied on the strength and involvement of its families. With new leadership and shared responsibility, we are confident that the Palmerton Swim Team can continue to provide a positive and rewarding experience for our swimmers.
Thank you for your continued support, understanding, and dedication to our team.
Sincerely,The Palmerton Swim Team Board
