Welcome to The Palmerton Porpoises Swim Team!!

Our home pool is the beautiful Palmerton Memorial Park Pool located at 1255 3rd Street, Palmerton, PA, and our program is open to swimmers ages 5 – 18. We work with abilities ranging from novice to advance. Swimmers will be able to compete in dual meets, invitationals and championship meets. New swimmers are always welcome!

The Palmerton Porpoises Swim Team is a summer league team that swims with the Suburban League of the Greater Lehigh Valley. Our season begins on May 26th and runs through the end of July. Being on the swim team has so many advantages! As a swimmer, you compete individually, but we also practice and compete together as a team. Swimmers cheer each other on and encourage each other to do their best. Our overall goal is to become better swimmers, form lasting friendships, and have fun!

About Our Team!

Welcome to the Palmerton Porpoises - the only competitive summer swim league in Carbon County! Our team is a part of The Suburban Swim League of the Greater Lehigh Valley, which is made up of 9 teams. Our officers have been working very hard to make our 2026 season the best year yet, and we hope you will join us in making this a summer to remember!

The Palmerton Swim Team is open to all children ages 5 through the summer following 12th grade. It is an 8-week program held at the Palmerton Memorial Pool, and it is geared toward swimmers with basic swimming knowledge and ability to swim across the pool. The swim team is a great program to increase stamina and endurance for other seasonal sports. Most of all, being part of a summer swim team is FUN!

Practice will begin on Tuesday, May 26th from 6 - 8 PM. The first week of practice is FREE for those of you who would like to try it out before registering. Practices are held Monday through Friday from 6 - 8 PM. Swimmers are encouraged to attend at least 3 practices a week.

Competitive swim meets are held Monday and Thursday evenings. Some are home meets at the Palmerton Memorial Pool, while others are away meets.

Palmerton Swim Team is ready for YOU to conquer the pool this summer!

Swimmer Requirements & Responsibilities:

To be a part of the Palmerton Swim Team, it is important that each swimmer is able to swim one length of the pool without assistance or lifesaving. If a swimmer is unable to do this, we ask that you NOT register your child for the swim team at this time. After a year of practice and possible swim lessons, we would encourage your swimmer to join us next summer! If you're not sure if your child can swim the length of the pool, just come to a free practice the week of May 30th and find out!

Swimmers should each have a swimsuit, swim cap, and goggles for practice. We ask that your swimmer try to attend at least 3 practices per week. Although swim meets are optional, they are highly encouraged. This is a time when the swimmers show the most team spirit and encouragement, and their friendships grow!

Parent Responsibilities:

As a parent or guardian of a swimmer on the team, you have some responsibilities to help keep the team running smoothly. Other than the coaches, all positions on the PST are completed without pay. As a result, we rely on families to help keep the team running, particularly at the swim meets.

Please plan to volunteer in some way at each meet, whether it be donating to & volunteering at the snack stand, being a timer, or helping the swimmers get to their races on time. The meets cannot be run without all hands on deck.

From the Palmerton Swim Team:

  • Parents are permitted inside the pool area, but we ask that you watch from the opposite side or grass area
  • Do not congregate on the deck where the swimmers and coach are conversing
  • Swimmers should come in their suits when possible and be prepared to get in the water quickly
  • Swimmers are not permitted to share caps, goggles, towels, water bottles, or any other personal items
  • We ask parents to be prompt when picking up their swimmers at the end of practice

For more information, review the PST Handbook.
